programs

We structure our programs to give a range of experiences over the life of a primary school student at our school.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Gardens Program

Year 3 and 4 students are immersed in the world of sustainability through the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Gardens program.

They maintain our worm farms, our vegetable garden areas, participate in ‘Cool Australia’ learning and lead the learning through the ‘Green Team’, a student leadership team in this area.

The cooking part of the program is hosted in the new kitchen facility that provides an opportunity for all students to join in.

Cultural Language Program

From 2014, students in year Prep and year 6 have been working with a teacher in Mandarin Chinese. This is a cultural language program that focuses on developing in students the global understanding of another culture. This program will grow each year through the school.

We have a Sister school in Xi’an in China and have worked with a school using technology in Korea.

Library

The library offers a hub space to meet and relax in an informal environment for students. Regular events for students are held to encourage and promote reading and borrowing library books.

Magic Reading

Magic Reading is a specialised program to assist year 1 students who need extra support in learning to read.

Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)

The students in Year Prep participate in the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) which is aimed at developing the children’s gross motor skills, co-ordination, balance and language. The program runs weekly but does not start until the month of March.

Bike Education

Each year, the year 4 and 5 students participate in Bike Education. We also participate each year in the Bike Education challenge with local schools and have a great record of success.

Out of School Hours Care (OSHCare 4 Kids)

We offer an Out of Hours School Care program. It operates out of our Grey Street hall and runs each day, both in the morning before school and after school from 3.30-6.00pm. There is also a vacation care program. An afternoon snack is provided for all of the children and many interesting activities are provided both inside and out (weather permitting).
